01 / START WITH THE LANGUAGE
A product name, a study, and a laboratory result describe different things. Keeping them separate makes documentation easier to evaluate.
Peptides contain linked amino acids. The term describes their composition; it does not establish a medical benefit or approval for a particular product.
NCI: peptide definition ↗Read the identity and measured content of each component. A study of one ingredient does not, by itself, establish the behaviour or safety of a finished blend.
Review the formulation actually tested.
Not every research compound is a peptide. NAD+, for example, is a coenzyme involved in cellular redox chemistry and enzyme reactions.

A certificate of analysis describes tests on a particular sample. Use this reading checklist to understand its scope before drawing conclusions.
These answer different questions. A high reported purity does not demonstrate sterility, clinical safety, or regulatory authorization.
Compare the full compound name, sample identifier, and lot number. A report for a different batch cannot establish the results for your sample.
A purity percentage and a measured amount in milligrams are different results. Check the units, method, and basis of calculation rather than treating the percentage as the amount in the vial.
Look for the named analytical method and its stated result. Do not assume that identity, sterility, endotoxins, or every possible impurity were tested if the report does not say so.
Distinguish sample receipt, testing, and reporting dates. Check the laboratory’s identity and request clarification from the report issuer when details are missing.
03 / PUT FINDINGS IN CONTEXT
A laboratory finding is not interchangeable with a clinical conclusion. Ask which question a study was designed to answer.
Characterizes a sample under specified methods. It does not show that a substance treats a condition.
Investigates compounds in laboratory systems and animal models. Findings do not establish outcomes in people.
Studies an intervention in people under defined conditions. A trial’s existence does not mean a product is approved.

IMPORTANT CONTEXT / CANADA & UNITED STATES
Health Canada warns against unauthorized injectable peptide drugs and says “research use only” labels do not exempt them from regulatory requirements. Its advisory names several compounds discussed in this collection.
Read Health Canada’s advisory ↗FDA identifies safety concerns for a number of substances offered for compounding. It also states that retatrutide is not a component of an approved drug and has not been found safe and effective for any condition.
04 / COMMON QUESTIONS
No. Analytical testing and regulatory approval serve different purposes. Read the report’s specific scope and consult the relevant regulator for authorization status.
